Mr. Davis is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law in 1983.  After his graduation, he worked for the Nassau County Legal Aid Society for two years, and then entered private practice in 1985 with his former firm, Axelrod, Cornachio and Famighetti, where he became a partner in 1993.  Eventually, this firm merged with the Certilman Balin, LLP, one of Long Island’s largest law firms, where Mr. Davis was a partner for five years.  In 2001, he left to form his own practice, which he continues to this day.

Mr. Davis was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1984; in 2001, he passed the Florida bar exam and was admitted to practice; in 2005, he passed the Connecticut bar exam, and was admitted to practice.  Mr. Davis is also admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York since 1986; Southern District of New York since 2004; the United States Second Circuit since 1998; and the United States Supreme Court also since 1998.

Mr. Davis began as a criminal lawyer with the Legal Aid Society, but upon entering private practice, expanded his areas of expertise.  He has practiced matrimonial and family law since 1990; has handled numerous civil litigation cases as set forth in this website; and has other experience in municipal law, real estate and business transactions, and preparing and probating wills and handling estate matters.

Mr. Davis has been a member of the Nassau County Bar Association since 1985, and was a director from 1996 through 1998.  He has been a member of the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association since 1985, and was president from 1994 through 1995.  Mr. Davis is a past lecturer at both the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association in areas of criminal law.

Mr. Davis was the attorney for the Village of Hempstead, Community Development Agency from 1996 through 2010, and represented this agency in such diverse areas as civil rights litigation, collection cases, landlord/tenant cases, contract cases, various real estate matters and other miscellaneous cases.  He has handled the condemnation of properties for affordable housing programs, and for removing blight with new development. Since 2008, Mr. Davis has also worked as counsel for the Town of Hempstead, Department of Planning and Economic Development in various projects handling the condemnation and the relocation of residential and commercial tenants.

Finally, Mr. Davis is an avid writer, and is the author of three novels, which are accessible as Kindle downloads within this website.  Two of these novels, Divorce New York Style, and In the Wake of Success, are about lawyers, and Mr. Davis draws on his vast experience as a lawyer to make these as realistic as possible.  His third novel, Alcohol at the Family’s Soul, is about alcoholism, as a family disease, and about how it touches all members, not only the alcoholic.
